Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy explains which personal data 50 Percent Off Software collects when you use 50percentoffsoftware.com (the "Store"), why, and what your rights are.
1. Who is responsible for your data
50percentoffsoftware.com LLC, 5000 Thayer Center STE C, Oakland, MD 21550, United States is the data controller. For any privacy question or request: sales@50percentoffsoftware.com.
2. Data we collect
- Orders: name, email address, country, phone number (optional), order notes, products ordered, amounts, currency, discount code, order status and the license keys delivered to you.
- Payment: PayPal transaction identifiers and the email address of the PayPal account used. Card details are handled by PayPal only; we never receive them.
- Customer account: email address, password (stored in encrypted form by our authentication provider; we cannot read it), name, phone number, country and your marketing email preference.
- Reviews: the name displayed with your review (your first name and the initial of your last name, from your profile), your rating and your text.
- Newsletter: your email address and whether you confirmed your subscription.
- Contact form: name, email address, subject and message.
- Security data: your IP address, used to limit abuse of the contact and newsletter forms, and technical logs kept by our hosting providers.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To process your order — deliver your license keys, send order emails, give you access to your licenses, handle the guarantee, refunds and customer service. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- To remind you of an unfinished order — if you start an order without completing the payment, we may send up to two reminder emails about that order (about 1 hour and 24 hours later). They stop as soon as the order is paid or you place a new order. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
- To keep accounting records of sales. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To secure the Store and prevent fraud and spam, and to moderate reviews. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
- To send the newsletter and promotional emails, only if you subscribed and confirmed your address, or opted in from your profile. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Who receives your data
Your data is only accessible to the Store's team and to the service providers we use to run the Store, who act on our instructions:
- Supabase — database, customer accounts and image storage.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Our email hosting provider — sending order, account and newsletter emails.
- Cloudflare (Turnstile) — anti-spam check on the contact form.
- Google Fonts — delivery of the fonts used by the Store, which involves your IP address.
PayPal processes your payment as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
Some of these providers are located in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
We never sell your personal data.
5. How long we keep it
- Orders and invoices: for as long as required by accounting and tax law (7 years, the period generally recommended by the IRS in the United States).
- Customer account: until you ask us to delete it.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe (a link is included in every newsletter email).
- Contact messages: up to 3 years after our last exchange.
- Security data: only as long as needed to prevent abuse.
6. Cookies and local storage
The Store does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps your cart, your currency and display preferences, and your sign-in session; this data stays on your device. PayPal (at checkout) and Cloudflare Turnstile (on the contact form) may set their own cookies when you use these features. See our Cookie Policy for details.
7. Security
The Store is served over HTTPS only. Access to customer data is restricted to authorised staff, administrator actions are logged, and your license keys are only shown in your own customer area and in the emails sent to you.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw your consent at any time. You can update most of your details yourself in "Profile" and unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click.
To exercise these rights, write to sales@50percentoffsoftware.com. We may ask you to prove your identity and will answer within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office; customers in the European Union may also contact the data protection authority of their country).
9. Remote assistance
We provide remote assistance for those who may encounter issues in activating and deploying software.
10. Children
The Store is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be announced on the Store.
